Martin Abrahams - fine artist, video designer, animator and photographer - has experimented with the idea of motion as a thematic element. He has this concept to several series of photographs called LIT, FASHION, CIRCUS and DANCE. The work is exhibited as enlarged cibacrome prints and as installations of sculptural light boxes with transparencies.

"The purpose of my work is to disect the elements of light and motion and transform them into the semblance of another dimension. Form is then broken into abstract and minimalist elements."

With color and light as his palate, the artist paints and draws with a still camera. Realistic form is then broken up into multiple images and overlapping fragments of color. The work is not unlike stain painting and abstract expressionism and is reminiscent of Kandinsky, Jackson Pollack and Mark Rothko.

Martin Abrahams was a student of post abstract expressionism and graduated from the of the School of Visual Arts Fine Arts department in 1968.

The artist's videos have been presented worldwide. He is considered an innovator in his field; recognized with numerous awards, exhibiting painting and drawing in group shows and at the Rodriguez Degranier Gallery in Chelsea. He is also a faculty member at the School of Visual Arts.
